Strategic Focus of NOC
NOC is Focusing on Critical Social Problems
- Poverty is a serious problem in Beaufort County, affecting 13% of the county’s population of 165,000.
- Almost 40% of the “new majority” student population (nearly 8,500 African American and Hispanic students) in public schools in Beaufort County fail to meet school standards, remain in school, and graduate on time with the right skills and knowledge Most of these students live in low income neighborhoods.
- Many people in low income neighborhoods to not have health insurance and access to affordable health care.
